SEDIA Is The Authority
CEO SEDIA made it very clear that SEDIA is the authority on the Sabah Development Corridor and it is a private sector initiative besides SEDIA own projects.
Price Of Crude Oil Increases
Crude Oil pric increase from USD40 to more than USD80 resulting in the incrase in the price of petroleum said the Minister of Consumer Affairs and Cooperative of Malaysia.

8% Growth
YAB Prime Minister Of Malaysia, Datuk Najib Tun Razak stated that Malaysia must achieve 8% annual growth to achieve a developed nation status by 2020. Should the global economy improves by 2010 resulting in the increase of our exports we could possible achieve this goal.

A new kid on the block in as far as suppliers of building materials are concerned. Koperasi Usahawan Koridor Sabah Bhd was established to act as a major supplier to the many projects that are going to be implemented int the Sabah Development Corridor.

Agropolitan
Sabah State Government is vigorously promoting 5 Agropolitan projects under the Sabah Development Corridor or SDC. Rice planting is being promoted especially in Kota Belud, a district in the North West of Sabah. Agropolitan projects come under the Agriculture sector of the SDC and Halatuju.
Promoting Products From Rural Area
DUID or Dewan Usahawan Industri Desa was also busy organizing an Expo at the Sabah Trade Centre Likas to promote products from the rural area of the various states in Malaysia. The expo ended on July 5, 2009. There had been many expo in June and July 2009 in Kota Kinabalu and they were all looking for markets for their members and exhibitors.

Campaigning
The Buy Malaysia products campaign kicked off at Kota Kinabalu. The exposition which started on July 4 was held at the Town Padang and ends on July 7,2009. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs who is the organizer had done a good job in trying to reduce the costs of prices of local products particularly those produced by SDSI producers. SDSI is One District One Industry product.

Buy Malaysia Products Campaign
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Malaysia is organizing an expo at Papar Town Padang starting on May 10-14, 2009 to promote the Malaysian products.
Papar is a town about 30 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu by road. You can go to the Beach called Pantai Manis. You will bypass Papar if you drive straight to Beaufort, Sipitang, Brunei, Miri.

Visit Of Prime Minister To Sabah
We look forward to the visit of the the Right Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia to Kota Kinabalu on May 5, 2009.He is promoting 1-Malaysia.We have no problem with his noble idea but we must have the sincerity when we Walk The Talk (reminder to the Implementers of this idea). Normally it is the politics that divide us.

Walk The Talk
A Deputy Minister for Transport suggested that Sabah major districts be linked by rail network similar to those cities in Europe and other places in the world. This ides need further deliberation as it is a good idea to implement. Now Deputy Minister please 'walk the talk'.

Stimulus Package of Malaysia
Malaysia had introducted two Stimulus Package amounting to RM60 Billion that will end in the yar 2010.The package will be released in four trenches and now the Government is calling for detailed projects to implement.We could see some more announcements regarding these stimulus package.

Sabah Foundation leads the way in Education sector of the Sabah Development Corridor. Its subsidiary, KKYS Sdn Bhd through Kolej Yayasan Sabah signed a few MOUs with foreign as well as national institution of higher learning including the Canadian University of Dubai and Griffith University Dublin. This week Sabah Foundation signs with University Kuala Lumpur.

Sabah State Government now established an agency to manage Sabah Development Corridor. It is called SEDIA. Sedia in Bahasa Malaysia means Getting Ready. SEDIA is Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority.
